Thanks to its location by the seaside, Odessa often resembles the Mediterranean. The weather in Odessa is dry and mild with temperatures in January falling to -2°C (29°F), and going up to 22°C (72°F) in July. Winters are short and mild while summers are long and hot. Odessa stretches out along the coastline and is bordered by the steppes.
During winter on a cold day, temperatures fall to between 8°C and -15°C (or 17.6°F and 5°F)with very light snowfall. Heavy snow gear like boots won't be needed. A temperature of anything lower than -20°C is most rare and is quickly followed by a rise in temperatures.
Summer in Odessa is a wonderful time to visit when the highs are between 18°C and 25°C (64°F and 77°F). Daytime temperatures can be higher and could go up to as much as 35°C (95° F). Either way, summers are a great time to hit the beach and splash in the waters to cool off. There is nothing a tall iced drink at a shady table in a cafe can't soothe.
The climate in Odessa is moderate continental and despite the nearness to the sea, is actually quite dry. As many as 290 days in a year are sunny in the Black Sea Coast area of South Ukraine. The region receives only 350 mm (14 in) of rainfall a year.

We want to enlighten people about our culture, history, art, etc- and we like to present it in a very artistic way. For example, our tour "Home Visits" offers guests the chance to visit ordinary Odessa people in their apartments, meet their family and converse- isn't it a wonderful way of promoting our local culture?
